Safeguarding Kids from the Opioid Epidemic is a 2 hour session open to any interested adults about recognizing the signs and symptoms, developing a plan of action, and understanding how widespread this opioid problem is in our area. The event is presented by Chaplain Curtis Pennington and Sheriff Bill Rasco and will be held at Hernando United Methodist Church. Testimonies will be given by a Desoto county student and family. An interactive panel will be on hand to answer questions from those in attendance. Panelists are Dr. Ken Thompson, Emergency Medical Physician and Medical Director of DC Jail, Chad Wicker, DC Jail Administrator, Justin Smith, Lieutenant in charge of SID and Sheriff Bill Rasco. This is a free event held in the sanctuary and childcare will be provided.
