Quartets in Concert

Get Directions

#var:page_name# cover

As close friends, Johannes Brahms and Robert Schumann worked closely, so it is unsurprising that they produced a pair of vocal quartets. Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer (Love-song Waltzes) are frequently performed by piano duos or choirs, but this concert features an intimate performance by a quartet of singers and a pair of pianists. Setting German translations of Spanish poetry, Schumann’s lyricism and captivating harmonies shine in his Spanisches Liederspiel (Spanish Play-songs). Romantic Quartets explores love and yearning through songs by masters of German art song.

The concert is free and everyone is welcome.

The evening will also reveal plans for a new art song series in the St. Louis area.

This concert will feature:
Emily Truckenbrod, soprano
Stephanie Ruggles, contralto
Marc Schapman, tenor
David Dillard, baritone
Sarah Gallaher, piano
Joseph Welch, piano
