What: ASAP is partnering with the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) to offer a four-session, visual arts workshop series free for veterans, service members, military families, and caregivers.

This workshop will introduce participants to the combined power of art and words to shape ideas and memories. Participants will create “postcard stories” that celebrate their favorite objects and landscapes. To enhance their artistic seeing, participants will look at several artworks from local museums. To sharpen their means of expression, participants will read a few poems. To warm up their verbal skills, participants will engage in several writing exercises. Finally, participants will use special pens, watercolor pencils, oil pastels, and postcard paper to create their postcards. The workshop will conclude with an optional sharing of participant work and suggestions for follow-up activities. Participants are encouraged to bring a photo or two of their favorite places.

When: Saturday, May 12th, 1PM - 3PM

Where: The Hill Center at the Old Naval Hospital (921 Pennsylvania Avenue, SE)
