“A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness.”-Robert Frost
Poetry’s power has endured thousands of years, captivating the most passionate souls. To write excellent poetry, you must learn the art of packing the maximum punch with a minimum of words. In this workshop, you will learn about the specialized techniques, demands, and forms of poetry, as well as how to publish your work.
This is a workshop in poetry where you will think deeply about elements of craft in order to push the limits of the form of poetry in which you’re working such as: lyric, narrative, or experimental. The writing workshop will be run like a college level poetry course. It will be a collegial and rigorous space, guided by empathy, where we will discuss your new poems as works in process.
