Donal Ryan is one of Ireland's most prolific and accomplished prose writers. His short stories and novels offer an unflinching and beautifully written snapshot of life in 21st century Ireland. This evening festival curator, Jan Carson will be in conversations with Donal, chatting about his journey from Civil Servant to novelist, exploring how his writing has progressed from book to book and what life now looks like for this exceptionally talented writer.

Donal Ryan's first three novels, The Spinning Heart, The Thing About December and All We Shall Know, and his short story collection A Slanting of the Sun, were all published to major acclaim and won an impressive collection of awards. His fourth novel, From a Low and Quiet Sea was published in March 2018. Donal lectures in Creative Writing at the University of Limerick.
