Historic Encounters was one of campers favorite camps in 2017. These boys and girls, ages 9-12, enjoyed four days full of outdoor exploration and play. This outdoor educational summer camp takes place with the beautiful Historic Latta Plantation and living history farm as it’s background.
Each morning, students will get hands-on with the Latta farm animals assisting with feeding, grooming, and caretaking. Daily, the students will be interactive inside of the historic sites many historical buildings, barns, and cabins offering an educational experience all on its own as they learn of daily life for backcountry farmers in the 1800’s. Special activities and artisan skills will be featured daily which may include canoeing, woodworking, firestarting, foraging, campfire cooking, and more.

Historic Latta Plantation is a circa 1800 living history farm and once cotton plantation now nestled in the back of the 1,500 acre Latta Plantation Nature Preserve. Offering guided tours, special events, educational programming, and summer camps as a 501(c)3 non-profit since 1973.
