Hockey Manawatu is committed to good practice that safeguards all children and young people participating in hockey. It is all our responsibility to ensure we understand our roles and responsibilities in the duty of care for children and young people. To help you understand your role and responsibilities, Sport Manawatu will be delivering a workshop on Child Protection and Procedures. Included in the workshop will be:

• What is Child Protection and Why do we need it?
• What is child abuse?
• How to identify abuse
• Safe recruitment processes as a requirement
• Appointment of a Child Protection Officer
• Steps for reporting suspected or disclosed child abuse

For clubs – We are aware that clubs may not have a Child Protection Policy and a Child Protection Officer appointed. It is important for all clubs that have players under the age of 18 to have the correct policies and procedures in place. The workshop will provide the information to help you understand your role in the duty of care for children and young people and HMI will support you with the policy and procedures

Please RSVP your attendance for catering purposes by Monday 9th April 2018.
