Join us in a Christ centered practice of yoga; an opportunity to regularly encounter the Spirit of God. Classes will be opened with a prayer and/or the reading of Scripture. You will be led through a mindful yoga flow that meets your busy mind where it’s at and brings it to an inner stillness. A regular practice in this nurturing atmosphere will enable you to Live a Spirit led life. All faiths and denominations welcome!
BRING YOUR KIDS! We know that it's hard for moms to find time for themselves and/or to find a sitter so we want to make this day time class amenable to you. We will have a play station off to the side. Bring your ipads and/or favorite toys.
Emily’s Yoga Story:
Emily of began her yoga journey in 2009 when she took her first Bikram yoga class in Austin, TX. Originally she was attracted to the physical challenge that the strenuousness and heat of that style of yoga offers. However, that attraction has since morphed into a love of how yoga not only tends to the body, but also to the heart, soul and mind, through breathing, mindfulness and rhythmic flows.
In 2012, Emily left Austin for Cleveland, Ohio to be closer to family while she sought treatment for an eating disorder. This is where her practice began to change. What started as yet another means to burn calories and tone her physique, transformed into a more mindful, centering and compassionate practice. Emily traded the strenuous Bikram classes for calmer Hatha & Vinyasa Flow styles of yoga. She quickly discovered the immense impact this had on her mind and spirit as she fought to recover from her eating disorder. Her yoga mat became a place of peace, rest and self-care, and she would leave class feeling restored and strengthened.
This experience of using yoga as a tool to aid in her recovery fueled Emily’s desire to share this practice of whole-body, holistic wellness and help others on a similar journey. So in 2016, Emily enrolled in and completed her 200-hr yoga teacher training. Since then she has continued her studies, becoming a Health and Wellness Coach and receiving additional trainings in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, as well as Pre-/Postnatal Yoga. She is currently pursuing her 500-hour masters level training in Therapy Yoga.
Emily considers it an immense privilege to teach yoga classes with the hope of encouraging and strengthening her students by offering them a place to grow in self-compassion, mind-body awareness and gratitude. She seeks to create a welcoming and safe environment in all of her classes, where everyone feels both comfortable and accepted no matter their level of experience with yoga or path in life.
