New Product Development – for new businesses and prestart businesses

CUE Business Solutions is offering a series of workshops, accelerator programmes and LaunchPads through the Coventry and Warwickshire Business Support Programme, the activity is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund but free to you.

If you have an innovative Technology-based business idea and have not yet started a business please see whether this FREE workshop would help you.

This session will focus on the new product development journey and is aimed at you if you are starting a product business for the first time or are in the process of developing further products in your portfolio. The session will follow our new product development roadmap, taking participants through the steps from idea generation to concept development and eventually commercialisation.

What we'll cover:

The product lifecycle and the implications for your products and business. Here we encourage you, using a practical exercise, to understand where your own product or service fits into the product lifecycle and we look at existing cases of product development extending a product's lifecycle.

Understanding of the 8 steps to going from an idea to commercialisation and some hints and tips along the way to make the process more successful.

An idea of where new ideas for products come from. Here we challenge participants using a practical exercise to test their existing business model and look for new ideas or areas of development. We apply the theories of business model innovation and how challenges businesses to develop new products.

How an organisation can initially screen these ideas. We ensure participants can initially screen their many ideas by using practical exercises to assess commercial viability and organisational fit. We encourage them to look at the competitive market in this new area and benchmark their product or service against these new competitors.

How an organisation can develop concepts and test them. During this part of the session, we undertake several unique practical testing exercises to test customer’s preferences and priorities, willingness to buy and customers willingness to pay. These include De Bono’s thinking hats, storyboarding and an exercise called product box.

How an organisation can plan a successful product launch.

Please note - the workshop is interactive and you will need to participate in exercises to get the most out of the session.

You will be contacted by our business adviser to establish eligibility for the programme and to ensure this workshop offers you the best fit for your needs.

If accepted into the programme you will be asked to arrive promptly at 8.15 for an 8.30am start. We aim to finish at 4.00pm. Refreshments and lunch are provided.
