Learn How to Effectively Teach About the Holocaust
Every year, the Holocaust Center hosts a week-long summer teachers institute so educators gain the knowledge and tools needed to fulfill the state of Florida’s Holocaust Education Mandate. Community members are also invited to attend.
Speakers include the Holocaust Center’s Resource Teacher, local experts on Holocaust education, and Survivors. Teachers of any subject area and grade level are welcome to attend. You can earn up to 40 hours of in-service credits.
This year, the Institute will be divided into two workshops:
“How was the Holocaust Possible?” A two-day workshop (June 4 – 5) about the politics, social attitudes, and events that created the Holocaust, focusing on the first year of Nazi rule.
“Jewish Life Before, During, and After the Holocaust” (June 6 – 8) A three-day workshop that explores Jewish life before, during, and after the Holocaust in depth.
You may choose to attend one or both.
Before May 15th, the registration fee is as follows:
Three-day workshop: $45
Two-day workshop: $30
After May 15th, the three-day workshop will be $60 and the two-day workshop will be $40. You may attend both for $100.
Educational materials are included in the cost of attendance. You must pay the registration fee to reserve your spot.
