Holy Transfiguration is pleased to host a special guest speaker Mrs. Lisa Harper this Sunday, March 25th. Mrs. Harper will be offering a wonderful presentation on Ethiopian crosses, a very appropriate topic as we begin Holy Week. Her presentation will begin at 1:15 in the Church.
Mrs. Harper’s presentation will cover the large role played by crosses in Ethiopian culture and society, the wide variety of crosses found in Ethiopia, a brief history of Christianity in Ethiopia, and other relevant topics. In addition to her presentation, Mrs. Harper has graciously offered to showcase her collection of Ethiopian crosses.
Mrs. Harper, a graduate of Brown University, grew up in Paris. In 1968, she joined the Foreign Service and worked in Africa, Europe and South America, serving in Ethiopia from 1982-1985. After retiring in 1999, she worked as a contractor (WAE) for the State Department and as corporate trainer for CACI Corporation. For the past four years, she has been completely retired and enjoying life in the Washington area and in Tangier, Morocco, where she and her husband own a traditional home (riad).
