Join us for the annual Takoma Art Hop festival April 28 (11-7) and 29 (11-5)! Art Hop transforms Takoma’s main street into a neighborhood arts district. The work of over 70 of artists is installed in the shops, restaurants, galleries and on the streets of Takoma – from Takoma Park, MD to Takoma, DC. Take in one of the several demos and performances scheduled throughout the weekend! Enjoy a day or the entire weekend, but don’t miss Art Hop and the chance to see a sampling of local art like you’ve never seen before.
HMT will be hosting Debbie Annen, also known as one half of the performing duo DeJohn. Debbie started drawing mandalas, paper dolls and doodles as a relaxing pastime. Zen to Zany describes her artwork: intricate, whimsical and downright silly. Debbie’s art is described as very graphic with unusual color combinations. Her latest obsession is to draw a squiggle without looking, and then make something of it. This leads to unique shapes, forms and subjects. Debbie loves to combine her love of visual arts with her love for music and poetry. She will have mandala coloring books, key chains, gift cards and originals for sale.
Debbie will also be leading a ukulele jam Sunday 4/29, from 12-3pm. Bring your uke, and the yellow and/or blue Daily Uke Book if you have them, plus a music stand. Weather-permitting, we'll set up a tent and jam outside. You can jam with the artist anytime on Saturday as well. For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
