Olivier studied Art at Institut Emmanuel d’Alzon in France - tutored by Mr Jacques Bucchini - and was taught photography by his grandfather. He moved to Great Britain as a student in the mid nineties and in the early 2000s was commissioned works for the windows of Anna Molinari/Blumarine in London’s Bond Street.

Around the same time he displayed pieces at DB Fine Art Gallery in South Kensington. In 2007 he exhibited works at the Chelsea Art Gallery on Duke of York Square and collaborated with Richard Laurence Interiors in East London.

TASCHEN selected him to appear in Illustration Now! Vol.4 which was published in 2011. During the summer 2013 he took part in the group exhibition Throw Those Curtains Wide curated by fellow artist Leigh Glover and followed this in the fall with his first solo show, Retrorandomism, in London’s Haymarket. In the summer 2014 he took part in Movement: Artworks Summer Exhibition at Muse Gallery on Portobello Road and, in October that year, his multimedia show 50/50 starring Olivia de Goaltree - a collaborative triptych body of work consisting of a painting, 12 photographs and a short film - was exhibited at the Hackney Picturehouse.

In February 2015, a revised version of the show was part of the University of Kent’s History Month Art Trail in Canterbury. In September 2017 he exhibited a series of atmospheric architectural photographs, taking the viewer on a journey through the historically charged and spectacular space that is Beckenham Place Mansion, in South London, on the edge of Kent.

Some of his photographs have been published in The Telegraph, classic car magazine Overdrive and Diary of a Londoness. As a multidisciplinary artist, his practice is eclectic, all encompassing, and he welcomes collaborative projects.

FACES is a series of close cropped painted portraits, mixing an incredibly eclectic array of people all related to the creative industry in one way or another (whether that would be art, film, fashion, playwriting, biographical writing, dance etc.)

The concept of emotion, identity and societal perception is what motivated the work. Although Olivier does not personally like what is referred to as 'fan art' it was important for him that at least some of these arresting faces would belong to famous people; the artistic intention being that all of these subjects - some of them very close friends of his, some of them total strangers - would be technically treated in the same manner - in a seemingly stolen moment of observation and in an over zoomed format. By not allowing hands or body postures to give any extra information on the subject's current state of mind he relies solely on their facial expression to convey emotion and give extra freedom to the viewer to interpret the feeling they choose to perceive.

By having all of them titled solely by their first name he intends to create a sense of familiarity which fluidifies their social boundaries and destroys a false constructed sense of hierarchy without denying any of their respective individuality and uniqueness. All of these portraits are painted on 12x16in canvasses, which accentuates the equalisation of status, and the bold backgrounds enhance the subjects personalities weaving altogether a sensitive cloth of human fabric.
