The Hudson Historical Society is proud to announce that the April meeting will feature a presentation by: Major Robert McLachlan and Sgt. Alfredo Villa, members of the Grays and Blues of Montreal, which is an American Civil War historical preservation and re-enactment group.
Their presentation will detail the very little known but incredible fact that over 40,000 Canadians fought in the American Civil War (1861-1865). Many of these Canadians fought for the North or Union forces, but there were many others who fought for the South or Confederate forces! Who knew!
Mr. McLachlan and Mr. Villa will entertain us with an Audio / Visual presentation. And as an added bonus, they will have on static display a number of artifacts representing the life and times of the soldiers from that era.
At the risk of stealing some of their thunder, the presenters will have some very interesting detail about the exploits of the Canadians participating in the American Civil War, e.g. Medal of Honour awards and the level of attainment some of the Canadian officers reached.
This presentation promises to be very interesting and enlightening, do try to come out for the meeting. Hope to see you there.
