Ann van Buren will lead a poetry writing session that explores written and visual work from the Victorian era. Be inspired by #HRMNeoVictorians to create and share original poetry that takes another look at the Gilded Age. Van Buren is a Hudson Valley-based poet, writer, and educator whose poems have been published locally in The Westchester Review, Let The Poet Speak, and by Blue Door.
The Museum's current exhibition, The Neo-Victorians: Contemporary Artists Revive Gilded-Age Glamour examines the contemporary revival of interest in ornamental lushness and dedication to craft that once defined the style of the Victorian era, with works of art from more than 20 contemporary artists that conceal pointed social commentary beneath seductive surface techniques.
