A Pecha Kucha night will be held on April 26 in the Medical Education Centre at Hull Royal Infirmary. Dr David Horton, President of the Hull Medical Society, would like to invite HYMS students, Junior Doctors, GPs, Consultants and Senior Management to do a Pecha Kucha presentation. It should be challenging and fun, and good for the improvement of presentation skills.
The topic is “the future of medical care”. This can be interpreted in any way, from a practical resume of the role as taught now, to a fantastical sci-fi prediction, or dystopian future — as long as it is good, and keeps to the Pecha Kucha principles.
The rules we are using are that slides last 20 seconds each with a total of 20 slides. If it is easier to start with a blank slide to help with the timings, this is not included in the 20. Once the presentation begins the slide turnover is automatic with no further control by the presenter. David is willing to accept animations within slides, provided they are automatic.
If there is a good response we may have to limit the number of presentations on the night. There will be a prize for the best presentations, and a certificate for all participants for their portfolio. All participants will enjoy our meeting meal as our guests, which is a two course hot buffet with wine and coffee/tea.
Please reply with your interest to me at david (dot) horton at hey dot nhs dot uk by the end of March 2018.
