In the wake of Ellie's article and other posts by black dancers on the topic of racism within the blues and fusion communities we would like to host a discussion on how we can address these issues in our Bristol community, as well as the wider scene.

We want this discussion to be a safe and accessible space for anyone to turn up who is interested in discussing issues of racism in our dance community. You do not have to be well versed in these issues to take part, what we want is for us to all learn together in order to make our community better and safer for everyone.

We don't want this discussion to be a one off. We want this to be the first in a long line of discussions and workshops where we can all continue to explore these important issues together.

Here is some useful reading material which covers many of the topics that we will be discussing at this initial meet-up. Please feel free to share more articles and recourses that you think are relevant to this ongoing discussion.
