All forms of Yoga can be described as Yin or Yang based on which tissues of the body they target. A practice that focuses on exercising the muscles and moving blood in Yang. A practice that focuses on connective tissues is Yin.
At this Mandala Vinyasa & Yin class the two styles of yoga will be intelligently blended together through a firm intention, such as an element (Fire, Air, Water, Earth) or Chakra.
You will start the practice by awakening your body slowly through deep, long held Yin Yoga postures focusing on a specific group of muscles, preparing you for the more dynamic, Yang like - Mandala Vinyasa flow.
Following the main structure of Ashtanga Vinyasa, The Mandala Sun Salutes will move you in a spiralling way, 360 degrees around the mat – honouring the spiral patterns that nature uses to shape and create all the material and energetic substances in our bodies.
In the Standing / Seated section of flow, the poses will continue massaging the group of muscles focused on as you move towards a peak pose.
In the closing sequence of Yin Yoga, you will make the transition from the outside to the inside, reaching a feeling of introspection as you seal in your energy through a deep, meditative Shavasana.
This is a mixed level class, however due to the fast paced nature of Mandala Vinyasa it is advised that you attend at least six months of beginners vinyasa flow if you're a complete beginner.
Are mats provided? Yes but feel free to bring your own
I have an injury – should I attend? Please ask your doctor for permission before attending a class and make the teacher aware of the injury. Listen to your body and take your time.
Are there changing rooms? There are ladies and gents toilets.
What should I wear? Comfortable clothing that you can move in. Please bring layers for relaxation.
