About our program:
The Urban Wilderness is a collaborative project that is reinventing Knoxville as one of the Southeast's premier outdoor towns. Just minutes from downtown, the Urban Wilderness currently is a fabric of connected parks, open space, and trails with over 1,000 forested acres, 50-miles of multi-purpose trails, world class mountain bike trails and a bike park, Ijams Nature Center, rock-climbing, four Civil War sites, a Wildlife Management Area with opportunities for hunting and fishing, and several scenic quarries. It igites heritage tourism, promotes a healthy community and creates an economic boost for neighborhoods and businesses.
