Ashtanga Yoga - Linda
In Ashtanga Yoga the physical practice consists of certain movements (vinyasa) and deep conscious breath (ujjayi breathing), that take the body through the postures (asana) in a fixed sequence. By continually moving from each asana to the next, always guided by the breath, we experience a stillness in our mind. It’s been called a meditation on impermanence.
The Primary Series is the first sequence of postures that provides, if practiced regularly, a base level of health - increases flexibility of the joints and muscles, detoxifies the inner organs and strengthens the body and mind. Besides the physical benefits, this practice improves concentration and heightens sensitivity and awareness.
This is a led, counted class that will take you through half of the Primary Series. You don’t need to know the sequence, I will guide you through the postures and adjust you if necessary.
My story is both ordinary and extraordinary. I discovered Ashtanga Yoga in a critical period of my life when I was in need for guidance and purpose. In the beginning I learned through online courses and yoga books and I was totally absorbed by the practice. After 2 years of self study, I finally met my teacher, Kino Macgregor. Her advice for me was to study with Sharath Jois, the grandson of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (the founder of Ashtanga Yoga), which I had the blessing of knowing last year.
It’s an honor for me to share this magical practice with you. I believe it can transform your life. You try!
