Young Actors Theatre's 9th-12th grade social-issues troupe tackles the issue of school shootings in this striking, relevant performance.
Young Actors Theatre was founded in 1976 and we are still in Downtown Indianapolis creating impactful theatre made by and for youth. One of our most popular programs is The Court, a group that develops original performances that explore social issues that impact students every day. The Court has created shows that discuss bullying, mental heath, substance abuse, technology, and violence.
In our latest performance, developed by 9th-12th grade students from across Indianapolis, we navigate the complex issue of school shootings in America. This site-responsive theatre piece takes place in a library and explores the various thoughts and opinions of students, and how those opinions can be discussed.
The Court vs. Another Lockdown has a runtime of 30-40 minutes, with an additional 10-15 minute post-show Q&A with the cast. There is no intermission. Material is appropriate for 8th grade and above. Free for all ages at the Central Library Teen Study Area (2nd floor) Groups welcome!
