One Day Retreat
Saturday, April 21, 2018
Retreats are a wonderful way to expand your practice by immersing yourself in mindfulness and camaraderie with the Indianapolis sangha.
We'll get started at 9am with 108 bows. Bows are an invigorating (and optional!) way to prepare for sitting and walking meditation. Chanting begins at 9:30am. We'll then spend the rest of the day alternating between sitting and walking meditation. We'll break for lunch at noon, followed by an hour-long "spring cleaning"-themed work period.
The retreat will be led by our guiding teacher, Lincoln Rhodes. Linc will offer interviews throughout the day. Students may discuss their practice, puzzle over kong-ans, or chat about whatever comes to mind.
Zen Center resident Daniel Chamberlin will also guide us through a Yin yoga practice session after lunch. Yin is a slow, meditative form of yoga accessible to first-time yogis and experienced practitioners alike. If you would like to participate, please bring a yoga mat and appropriate attire.
Retreats include lunch, coffee, tea, and other refreshments from the IZC kitchen. Please RSVP at indyzen.org, or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to make alternative arrangements if the fee is out of reach. You may also connect with IZC on Facebook and let us know if you have any questions!
Comfortable clothing and previous experience with meditation is recommended, but not required. Overnight accommodations are also available with advance notice. Please arrive by 8:45am so that you have plenty of time to get yourself situated in the dharma room.
