Traumatic events may lead to isolation, dysregulation, anxiety and depression and may result in individuals developing dysfunctional coping strategies. This training will look at the therapeutic application of the philosophy and practice of trauma informed yoga when working with trauma survivors. Participants will learn to teach safe, bodybased, self-regulation techniques to meet the needs of a wide variety of people to support their day to day functioning and long-term healing. This training is suitable for anyone working with populations in need.
Facilitator: Nicole Marcia, MA, C-IAYT, TCTSY-F, Founder & Director of Fine Balance Yoga holds a master’s degree in Yoga therapy from Lesley University in Boston, MA. She served as the Director of Therapeutic Yoga at the Burnaby Centre for Mental Health & Addictions. She is a Program Director with Yoga Outreach & a certified Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator.
