TOPIC: "Stay the Course" — The Most Consistent Leadership Principle in the World

At the next Empower Hour 1.5 Professional Development Luncheon on May 2, 2018, learn from Sarah Heimer how to fight the good fight, finish the course, and focus on the future. The principle, "Stay the Course," is the most consistent leadership principle in the world.

Sarah Heimer, was named Chief Executive Officer, Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton County in October 2017. Previously, Heimer had served the past three years as the Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Northwest Arkansas. Under her leadership, the organization experienced a transformation both programmatically and financially. Through Sarah’s innovative leadership, the organization brought a fresh message to mentoring, and began to champion projects that have greater reach to the local community. Sarah was named Celebrate Arkansas Magazine Top 15 to Watch in 15 due to her notable work on the Lemonade Day Northwest Arkansas project. The innovative entrepreneurship program now serves over 1,200 children annually.

Sarah joined the world of work after finishing her degree at Kansas State University. She began her unconventional career path at a local Child Development Center, working with parents and teachers to lay strong academic foundations for atypical children. She then transitioned to politics serving as the Statewide Volunteer Manager in the 2006 Kansas Governor’s race. Since that time, Sarah has been leading people! She has served as an Employee Relations Manager in the medical field, Resource Development Director at the Boys and Girls Clubs (Bloomington, Indiana) and has worked in numerous volunteer capacities including, serving as a volunteer fundraiser and event planner. Sarah currently serves on the Board of Directors for 99 Balloons, an organization that changes the story of disability both locally and globally. She also serves as the PTO President for her children’s school, coaches her kid’s soccer teams, and is a member of the WEC Advisory Council. She previously presented to the Spring 2017 class.

Sarah has served in many capacities; but, none of this would be possible without her biggest fan and cheerleader, her husband of 12 years, Justin. Sarah and her family attend Christ Community Church in Fayetteville, and are deeply passionate about how their skills and gifts influence the kingdom. While leading people is her passion, it is her little tribe, Blythe (10), Pierce (8), and Tenley (7), who give the best hands-on experience on what leadership looks like day-to-day.

Join Sarah at our May event and learn how she has Stayed the Course during unanticipated changes in both career and personal life!
