I am delighted to be offering a class on The Relaxed Mind, teachings on meditation Dza Kilung Rinpoche.

We will be learning the meditations in The Relaxed Mind: A Seven-Step Method for Deepening Meditation Practice, by Dza Kilung Rinpoche (Author),‎ Tulku Thondup (Foreword)

The book is recommended (but not required) reading for our class.

Rinpoche's approach is very traditional but adapted to help those of us who live in a culture of distraction. The method is a way for tense meditators to relax and deepen their practice. Meditators may be surprised to find their practice transformed through letting go of tension.

This is a good class for students who have taken a mindfulness or compassion class. These reflections are a great support in breaking through the mis-perception that self-centeredness can never lead to lasting happiness.

Dza Kilung Rinpoche, a beloved Tibetan Buddhist teacher, grew up in East Tibet. He is considered the fifth reincarnation of HH Jigme Ngotsar Gyatso, who was one of the four principal disciples of Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa, the great 18th-century Nyingma Dzogchen teacher. In 1993, Kilung Rinpoche’s short pilgrimage to sacred Buddhist sites in India was unexpectedly prolonged by an invitation to teach in the United States. Nowadays, in addition to leading Kilung Monastery in his homeland of Dzachuka, East Tibet, Kilung Rinpoche teaches all over the world and has gathered a community on Whidbey Island, north of Seattle, where he lives for part of the year.
