Waldorf Doll Making Course with Mopsa Wolff on May 1st, 8th and 15th 10am until 3pm
Mopsa has been making dolls and teaching doll making workshops for about five years to many different people of all skill levels. I have always been drawn to handwork and I enjoy passing on skills to others, especially a skill that makes people smile .
Being able to give a child a doll that you have made with you own hands is quite special. It is an object that holds within itself the time and love that it has taken to make, then it goes on to be nurtured and brought alive by a child's imagination. Any representation of the human form will take on layers of projected emotion, from a simple snowman to an ancient chalk drawing in a hillside and I have seen over and over again the transformation of a piece of cotton fabric and some stuffing wool into a doll that is cradled, stroked and smiled at. It is really a privilege for me to teach dollmaking.
The dolls made at the workshops are traditional cloth dolls, often referred to as Waldorf dolls. They use natural materials and have simple embroidered faces on heads that are formed by binding string around tubular bandage and organic wool stuffing. There will be a choice of skin and eye colours. Patterns for dolls clothes will be available..
