Dear ISA Community,

On Monday, March 26th at 7PM in the Learning Center, ISA will be hosting a workshop by the Fundacion Anti Droga Aruba (Fada Aruba. During the workshop, the FADA will be talking about different ways parents can be involved in the life of the children and tips that can help prevent at-risk behavior and/or the use of drugs.

The workshop is open to parents/guardians & teachers of students of all ages from ISA and will be done in English.

This workshop is a part of a week long awareness week about Drug & Alcohol Abuse, organized by our National Honor Society. Below is a description of the daily activities:

Monday, March 26th:
(10th-12th grade) During Advisory, a teacher from the Arte Sano Foundation will talk about he fought his drug addiction followed by a presentation by the FADA. A non-permission slip was sent home with your child last week. Please let us know if you would like your child to attend the activity for 9th grade instead.
(9th grade) During Advisory, students will learn some must know facts about drug & alcohol abuse.
At 7PM: Parents Can Make a Difference, Workshop by FADA for parents, guardians and teachers of ISA

Tuesday, March 27th:
Earlier this week, students in NHS performed a demonstration after school about the effects of smoking on your lungs using a bottle and cotton balls. The end result will be on display in the MPR as well as information about the harms of smoking.

Wednesday, March 28th:
During this day, students in NHS will focus on the harmful side effects of alcohol. Students in Secondary School will be given the opportunity to wear alcohol impairment goggles in order to demonstrate how alcohol can affect every day movements as well as read personal encounters where people have lost their lives due to heavy drinking.

Thursday, March 29th:
During Secondary homeroom, teachers will have a choice between two videos (which video they feel is most relevant to their class) to show. One video is about the modern concept of addiction - how our environment can enable us to become addicted to substances. The second video is a TEDx talk by a man who explains the consequences his video game addiction had on his life and how he escaped the vicious cycle.

Thank you for your continuous support. We hope to see you all at the workshop, Monday, March 26th at 7PM in the Learning Center.

Sincerely,
National Honor Society
