REMOTE SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETING PLATFORMS: MARKET, TECHNOLOGIES, ETHICS AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS
Seminar led by Klaus Ziegler.
Please register by 14 April:
This seminar by AIIC UK & Ireland will give you an insight into the worldwide market in Remote Simultaneous Interpreting (RSI), focusing on the technical features of the platform solutions available at present.
Those features will be explained from both the interpreter’s and the provider’s perspectives, taking into consideration the applicable requirements in ISO standards for simultaneous interpreting.
You will obtain first-hand information on the options open to the different stakeholders, and their respective responsibilities, including issues relating to liability; the aim is to give you a solid foundation on which to negotiate RSI assignments yourself.
A guided brainstorming session on ethical issues connected to remote interpreting and on AIIC’s Position Paper on Distance Interpreting will conclude the seminar.
The seminar will be led by Klaus Ziegler, a professional freelance conference interpreter, consultant, interpreter trainer, researcher and translator since 1992. Klaus is the Coordinator of the AIIC Technical and Health Committee and a member of both the AIIC Task Force on Distance Interpreting and of the ISO Group.
Places are limited and are available on a first come, first-served basis.
