Join UVM Mindfulness for a screening of the film “Walk with Me.” The film is a visceral journey into the world of Thich Nhat Hanh and the Plum Village Monastic Community. Thich Nhat Hanh is a Vietnamese Buddhist Zen master, scholar, poet, and peace activist who led the Engaged Buddhism movement during the Vietnam war and also happened to be the instigator of the UVM Mindfulness program. Hanh said, “When bombs begin to fall on people, you cannot stay in the meditation hall all of the time. Meditation is about the awareness of what is going on-not only in your body and in your feelings, but all around you.” After the film, Buddhist monks from the Plum Village tradition will lead the group in a walking meditation from Ira Allen Chapel to the Davis Center where we will conclude the evening with hot tea/cocoa, cookies, and informal conversation about the role of mindfulness in countering systems of oppression.
