Iron Pig Alehouse is teaming up with Second Chance Beer Company to host a fundraising event for Operation Greyhound, a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of retired racing Greyhounds.
Iron Pig will be tapping several Second Chance beers, including a specialty brew made exclusively for the event. From 4-8 p.m., Iron Pig will donate a portion of every Second Chance beer sold. In addition to Iron Pig’s donation, the event will feature a drawing for donated items, including Painted Hounds artwork by Courtney Kelly, a kayak trip by Everyday California and local swag and gift cards.
The event is intended to not only raise funds toward, but also awareness of, the need to find homes for retired racing greyhounds. A greyhound’s racing career ends when the dog is between two to five years old, but they need someone to care for them for the rest of their 12-to-14-year average lifespan.
