Guelph has always been an influencer when it comes to food. However, for many in our community and across Canada, hunger and food insecurity is a daily and crippling reality. I would appreciate receiving the community’s input via a Food Security Town Hall in order to provide recommendations to the government on tackling this very important issue.
Joining me for the discussion will be:
• Dr. Brady Deaton - Professor Deaton is Professor and McCain Family Chair in Food Security in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Guelph
• Gavin Dandy - Directing Co-ordinator of the SEED. The SEED is a community food project of the Guelph Community Health Centre and delivers community programs to address the causes and effects of food insecurity.
• Randalin Ellery - Coordinator of the Guelph and Wellington Task Force for Poverty Elimination. The Task Force for Poverty Elimination works collaboratively to advocate and address issues such as homelessness, income security and safe affordable food access in our community.
I invite you to share in this important discussion.
