Are you ready for an adventure? This 24-hour, hands-on, experiential survival course will combine outdoor skills training with camp craft and a night spent in the woods in Illini State Park.
Learn awareness and tracking skills in the woods, where it is meant to be experienced. Learn and practice the survival skills to make shelter, fire, tinder, rope, traps and snares, as well as see how to hunt primitively and build a proper fire structure, cook, purify water, and find edible/medicinal plants in the bush. Even if you have no camping or survival experience, you’re bound to have fun, learn new skills, make new friends and have some good stories to tell when you get back home. Basic camping skills will also be covered so you can feel more comfortable and familiar with this great pastime. Bring your sense of adventure and prepare to be a survivor!
There is a $7.50 fee payable the day of class for the tent-site reservation. Class is limited to 6 students, must be age 18 or older.
