“When I stand in front of a canvas, I never know what I’m going to do – and nobody is more surprised than I at what comes out.”
April’s artist showcase is Spanish painter, sculptor and ceramist Joan Miro. His work is considered a kind of abstract surrealism and he often used “automatic drawing” to compose his paintings. This is a way of freeing yourself from overly thought out conceptual work and allowing your primitive mind and your hand roaming freely about the canvas to create images.
Miro Day: April 21st 3-5:30pm
TWO EVENTS IN ONE DAY
Learn to Paint Like Miro
Our April “paint like the masters” class will be in celebration of Spanish artist Joan Miro. This class will be in mixed media as we combine watercolor, acrylic paint and ink to create images of “your dreams”
