Jazz in the Native Yards presents Talking Drum.

This gig which is made possible by Concerts SA, gives an opportunity for creative performance interchange between South African rising stars and those from Austria. Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian live music development project housed within the SAMRO Foundation. Concerts SA receives financial, administrative and technical support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAMRO, the SAMRO Foundation and Concerts Norway Music for providing support to the sector through research and skills development for music professionals, the project aims to build a vibrant and viable live music circuit in southern Africa.
Tefo "Talking Drum" Mahola is a young up and coming multi-talented drummer, pianist, arranger, composer and poet in the world of music hailing from Gugulethu, Cape Town. His ear for music, love for playing new ideas and constant hunger for pushing to newer levels brings about a truly fresh and cooking sound. His music career has barely just started, having already done tours and festivals like Rocking the Daisies, Cape Town Jazz Festival, Oslo Jazz Festival and Muizenberg Jazz Festival to name a few, playing with many musical greats.
Although he plays in many styles and genres most enjoyed genre to play is jazz, showcase original music by Tefo Mahola with poetry and stories.His compositional work depicts that of jazz with all influences of music incorporated within.
