Anthony Hervey received the Outstanding Soloist recognition award four consecutive years (2012-2015) at the prestigious Essentially Ellington high school jazz band competition & festival in New York. At the 2015 competition, he was awarded the Ella Fitzgerald Award representing the Outstanding Soloist for the entire competition. In recent years Hervey has participated in the 2014 Vail Jazz Workshop, the 2015 Grammy Jazz Band, 2014-2015 Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, and was invited to participate in the 2015 inaugural Summer Jazz Academy in Castleton by Wynton Marsalis.

2016, a banner year for Hervey, and for lovers of his music. It was the kind of year upon which true, broad based careers are made. Performances included:

Young Arts Jazz Competition Finalist
Count Basie Jazz Orchestra
Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra featuring Chick Corea - Ravinia Festival, substituted for Wynton Marsalis
Marciac Jazz Festival – Marciac, France, with Wynton Marsalis & The Young Jazz All Stars
MTV Video Music Awards – accompanied Rihanna in the big band
Future of Jazz Festival – Moscow, Russia- featured soloist with the Igor Butman Jazz Orchestra
2017 kicked off with “Who Is Louis Armstrong” with Catherine Russell – Hervey performed as Louis Armstrong.

To hear Anthony Hervey play is reminiscent of the trope of Gabriel blowing his horn. In addition to those mentioned previously, he has played with some of the best that jazz has to offer: Rodney Whitaker, Wycliffe Gordon, Marquis Hill, Stephen Scott, Eric Harland, and Ira Sullivan. His music will awake your senses and get your feet tapping like reveille at sunrise, and soothe your heart like a sensuous romance under a moonlit sky. His influence on jazz is just the beginning.
