Jefferson Community College (JCC) will hold its annual business conference Jefferson Business Symposium (JBS). It is open to the public and college students, high school students, or anyone seeking employment or career advancement. All are welcome to attend. Admission is FREE.
JBS, launched in 2016, is organized by the JCC Business and Hospitality and Tourism Club and overseen by the JCC Business department. This year’s focus is “Build Brand You.” Consisting of keynote speakers Jody C. and Doreen A. Garrett and nearly 20 breakout sessions, attendees will learn how to build a personal and professional brand for self-promotion to potential employers, take action on workforce preparedness, and connect with North Country employers.
Together keynote speakers Jody and Doreen Garrett employ hundreds of people in the North Country! Mr. Garrett is owner of Overhead Door Company and Wayne Dalton. Mrs. Garrett is founder of southern Lewis County’s largest private employer – Otis Technology. Jointly, Mr. and Mrs. Garrett co-own Saint Lawrence Spirits and their latest venture Chateau at St. Lawrence Spirits, a fine dining experience delivered by Chef Christian Ives.
JBS breakout sessions will include Labor Forecast for the North Country by Cheryl Mayforth, executive director, Jefferson-Lewis Workforce Development Board, Social Media Branding by Angel Munson, Jefferson County Employment & Training Coordinator, The WorkPlace, Networking in the Non-Profit by Max Delsignore, assistant director, Northern New York Community Foundation, and many others.
Attendees will have the chance to connect with all participating North Country business representatives at a Networking Expo being held during JBS in the McVean gymnasium.
Furthermore, campus tours will be available including a model suite in East Hall.
