Katy Hawk is local artist who paints and draws full time. She earned a BFA at George Mason University in Drawing and Painting. Her work has been exhibited at the Artist's Gallery in Virginia Beach, Plein Air Easton, and in collections in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Japan, Italy, Germany, France and the U.K.

Great Art begins with strong drawing. This course teaches the basics of drawing including line, light, value, perspective and proportion using pencil and charcoal. We will build drawing skills and start the rewarding process of completing an artist's sketchbook.

Time: 2 hours
Terminal Objective: Participants will learn the fundamentals of Drawing and it's relation to painting and sculpture.
Enabling Objectives:
1. Learn basics of observation and gesture drawing by drawing feet or hands.
2. Learn the value scale, contrast and light source.
3. Learn to set up a composition for drawing by using a viewfinder and the rule of thirds.
4. Learn to draw and shade a sphere and cube
5. Learn sketchbook basics
