The New Milford Commission on the Arts is sponsoring a storytelling program for children and families by New Milford native Valerie Tutson on April 18 at 2 p.m. in John Pettibone Community Center.
Valerie Tutson is a graduate from Brown University with a Masters Degree in Theatre Arts and a degree in a self-designed major-Storytelling As Communications Art. Valerie grew up in New Milford and fell in love with the world through stories she discovered at New Milford Library. She has been telling stories in schools, churches, libraries, festivals and conferences since 1991.
Her repertoire includes stories and songs she learned in her world travels, experiences in South and West Africa and stories from African American history. She also retells age-old Bible stories. She has hosted CULTURAL TAPESTRY, an award-winning show for COX 3 celebrating diverse cultures for over 12 years, creating space for others to share their stories.
