University Theatre is pleased to present “A Streetcar Named Desire” by Tennessee Williams. The production is directed by Kathleen McKinley and runs May 4 – 12 in the John Wright Theatre in the Speech Arts building on the campus of Fresno State.
Southern aristocrat and former school teacher Blanche is down on her luck and is reduced to leaving her family plantation home and living with her sister, Stella, and Stella's pugnacious blue-collar husband, Stanley, in New Orleans. Life with them in their tiny tenement apartment is unbearable until a kindly suitor appears and seems to offer Blanche a ticket to a better life. But Stanley, still seething at Blanche's high-handed dismissal of him, sets out to dismantle her genteel façade, hurtling them toward an epic clash in Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning classic.
The cast includes Sara Adam, Hunter Aro, Alyssa Benitez, Hannah Berry, Kat Campos, Lauren Folland, Jimmy Haynie, Nolan Henson, Quincy Maxwell, Reshma Meister, Sabrina Sierra, James F. Smith, Jalen Stewart, and Andrew Trevino.
Due to adult language and situations “A Streetcar Named Desire” is intended for mature audiences only.
