Business owners and residents are invited to learn the 20 secrets to improving an individual business, a downtown or a strip mall.
The Historic Artcraft Theater's free business video series continues on April 11 with the showing of "The 20 Ingredients of an Outstanding Downtown" by branding and marketing expert Roger Brooks. People can view the video at either of the two showings, which are 10 a.m. and noon.
The video series is sponsored by the Artcraft and the Johnson County Convention, Visitor and Tourism Commission, which oversees Festival Country Indiana.
Although the video focuses on downtowns, any business person or marketing professional can apply the lessons outside of a downtown. As an example, motorists and pedestrians who pass a business can best see signs that extend out from a business, yet most businesses instead use signs that are flat against their business."
The Artcraft is opening its concession stand for the showings in case people want to buy snacks, and people are invited to bring a lunch, a notebook and a pen to participate.
Brooks, who is featured in the video that is being shown, has helped more than 1,500 communities and has been featured in national newspaper and television reports.
Brooks toured the communities of Johnson County in 2017 and provided recommendations to Festival Country Indiana, which is the official tourism agency in Johnson County.
Now, to get people involved in making positive changes, Brooks' videos will be shown monthly for the next few months.
The next videos in the series will be shown 10 a.m. and noon May 9; and noon and 6 p.m. on June 6, July 11, and Aug. 8.
