Do you have a tween/teen? If so, we have an exciting event coming up for you! If you do not yet, please feel free to share!
It can be hard to get teenagers to listen to anything you say, let alone get them to practice good manners. But it is essential for teenagers to learn basic etiquette to prepare for the real world. Good manners make teenagers stand out and be noticed in a good way.
Being kind is often one of the most forgotten forms of etiquette. Teenagers are still learning how to focus on themselves and others at the same time. Tweens/Teenagers should remember to take other people's feelings into consideration with the things they do and say.
Cape Fear Cotillion will be hosting a Tween/Teen Etiquette Seminar to learn all about these skills and more! We will practice the table manners we learn with a lunch as well! This is a great first time class or refresher! I hope you can join us!
We will cover table manners, how to be a lady/gentleman, grooming, first impressions/handshakes, introductions/conversation skills, self respect/respect for others, bullying, online etiquette/social media, being a great guest/host and sportsmanship.
Being a teen is tough, being the parent of a teen is sometimes tougher. It's amazing how they will listen to someone other than their parents giving them this essential information in a group atmosphere. In teaching at UNCW the past few years, I have found there is so much interest among teens/young adults in these topics and learning things they might not have been taught or do not remember. They really enjoy learning proper etiquette and will gain confidence and use these skills the rest of their lives for college/job interviews, parties and events. So you may have to give them a push to come, but they will thank you for it!
