The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is a fundraising campaign by the Junior League of Eugene as part of our mission to empower women in our community. Participants are encouraged to harness the power of their social media platforms and circles of influence to drive online donations via the Junior League of Eugene website.
We are wearing black in support of victims of sexual violence in conjunction with the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements. Through it, we also aim to bring awareness to and help alleviate the effects on women facing distress after being rescued from human sex trafficking.
Participants raise funds while wearing one black dress, or other black attire, every day for the week of April 23-27 to prompt conversation and highlight the effect distressful situations can have on a woman’s access to resources, confidence, and opportunities. Funds raised will stay local, and directly support our League’s mission.
