This special fasting and purification weekend retreat is performed in conjunction with the meditation practice of Buddha of Compassion: Thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara. Engaging in this retreat is very powerful for purifying negative karma of body, speech and mind and for pacifying strong delusions such as desirous attachment and hatred.

introductory talk friday april 13, 7pm

Buddhist nun, Kelsang Rigden will give a clear explanation of the practice and give a commentary to Drop of Essential Nectar, the prayer booklet* used during the two day retreat. By learning about this special purification practice, the weekend retreat will give great meaning as the sessions will be self guided with little commentary and silence observed until lunch.

retreat saturday & sunday 6:30am-5:15pm

Mahayana precepts, from A Pure Life prayer booklet*, will be led each day by Rigden and must be taken at the beginning of each day to engage in the retreat. The first day we abstain from all meals apart from a vegetarian lunch. The second day we engage in a complete fast, abstaining from all food and drink for 24 hrs. Those who are unable to engage in a complete fast can participate in the sessions on the second day, provided they take the precepts.

*You may purchase the booklet when you register online and pick up at the centre or purchase at the centre as we have limited copies.

This practice is open for everyone, no previous experience is required apart from you must take the 6:30am Precepts on Saturday and Sunday to engage in the retreat. And, we will observe silence until lunchtime (12:15pm) on Saturday and Sunday.
