Holycow Adventures invites you for Phangchi Pass trek which connects two prominent valleys of Himachal Pradesh- Parvati Valley and Sainj Valley. The trek starts from Kalga village and goes through dense pine forests, Himalayan meadows, glacial streams, moraines, a few sections of scrambling on scree, through some tribal village with views of some prominent peaks of Indrasan range like Indrasan peak, Bijali Mahadev, Papi Chuda, Dharmi Chuda. These peaks have a very significant history. This is a perfect trek for those who have done few treks and looking to increase their level in the world of Himalayan trekking.

Brief Itinerary:
Day 1- Kalga to Bhadang Meadows.
We start our trek from Kalga early in the morning. First, we descend into the valley and cross the river. The ascent into dense pine forests begins from here. As we gain some elevation, we will get clear views of the surrounding mountains. After 5 hours, we will reach a huge opening in the forest i.e. Bhadang Meadows. Kalga Glacier is visible from here and it will be our camping ground for the night. There are Gujjar huts in this area which are temporary shelter for shepherds. We can light up campfire and enjoy its warmth with some stories.

Day 2- Bhadang Meadows to Chippi Meadows.
Today we will reach above the treeline while doing a steep trek. After 2 hours, we will cross a big stream. We will trek on vast grasslands located far above treeline. After 4 hours, we will reach Chippi Meadows. We will find lots of goat and sheep here. The campsite is surrounded by dominating mountains and is a very picturesque place.

Day 3: Chippi Meadows to Lal Batti after crossing Phangchi Pass (4800m).
This is the longest day of our trek and we will reach the highest point of the trek i.e. the Phangchi pass. It is the gateway between Parvati valley and Sainj Valley. We will walk across snow on the sections below the pass. There is a big Trishul placed on the pass and entire Indrasan range is visible from here. We can see peaks like Indrasan peak, Bijali Mahadev, Papi Chuda, Dharmi Chuda and Chota Sigri. The topography changes significantly as we enter Sainj Valley. We will reach Lal Batti after another 2 hours of descent and camp here for the night.

Day 4: Lal Batti to Jiwa Nala
We will come across a section of exposed rocky area where we will be using ropes for rappelling. The second half of the section takes us through forests. It is mostly downhill and we should reach Jiwa Nala camp by afternoon. We can spend rest of the day exploring around and campfire in evening.

Day 5: Jiwa Nala to Dogri
Initial section of the trek is downhill followed by a steep ascent of 5 hours through dense forest and we must walk with an alert mind. Dogri is a small opening in the forests and camping here would be a very different experience from rest of the nights.

Day 6: Dogri to Baggi Village
Trek to Baggi would take around 6 hours with a combination of uphill and downhill trail. Baggi village is very spiritual. Alcohol, non-veg food and leather items are prohibited in the village. However, the local people are very hospitable to trekkers. Enjoy the last night in mountains with the company of friendly villagers.

Day 7: Baggi Village to Neuli Village.
We will begin our final descent early in the morning. We will come across Sansar temple on the way. Upon reaching Neuli, we will take jeep for Kalga, Bhuntar or Mandi. The trip ends here with memories and friends for life.
