We need your ears to help us survey and listen for frogs and toads in Kalkaska County.
Our goal is to complete one route, three times during emergent windows of amphibians throughout the spring and early summer. Due to the nocturnal nature of our subjects we will complete these survey's after sunset. Participants can ride together in a bus provided by Au Sable Institute of Environmental Studies to 10 wetland sites in Kalkaska County.
Join us for a class on Monday, April 16th at 3:30pm to learn about the amphibians we may be hearing during each survey session and to learn the survey protocols.
The survey's will be completed:
April 18th at 8:15pm
May 16th at 8:30pm
June 20th at 8:45pm
The carpool location is to be determined. All surveys will be completed regardless of rain. If there is severe inclement weather, the survey will be postponed until the following evening.
More information about frogs and toads can be found here.
