Do you have historic family photos of people, places, or events in the Kalona area? Or letters, postcards, diaries or artwork? Sign up for a scanning session April 21st with the Kalona Community Heritage Project! Privately owned materials from before 1960 with a connection to the area are requested. Help us tell the Kalona story by preserving memories from our past! Joetown, Frytown, and other communities close to Kalona are welcome—these areas are represented in our Kalona Surrounding Area History Collection.
With owner permission, scans of community items will be added to the Iowa Heritage Digital Collection, an online collection of Iowa and local history. This resource is excellent for researchers, genealogists, and anyone with an interest in Iowa heritage to explore the past. For more on IHDC, visit www.iowaheritage.org.
RSVP for your hour long scanning session April 21st by calling or stopping by the Kalona Public Library.
Can’t make it on April 21st? Let us know you’d be interested in a one-on-one appointment or future event.
