amor brujo (Love, the Magician, literally translated Spell-bound Love) and the audience
will also dive with the pianist into the love duet work, Coloquio en la reja
(Conversation by the Window), by Granados. Besides the piano tunes, the audience will be
able to hear Maria discuss her book Kerronan voima - Narratiivi sävellyksen tulkinnassa

Maria Männikkö has graduated from the Sibelius Academy and from her further studies at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media under the supervision of Matti Raekallio. This pianist, originally from Riihimäki, has gained tremendous success in international piano competitions and has conquered concert stages in Finland and abroad. Maria works diversely in the field of art. Besides playing solo performances she performs as a chamber musician – especially in the form of a piano duo -, she teaches the piano and works as the other conducting half of the Home Concerts at Kaskenmäki. Her passion for Spanish piano music has been an important part of Maria’s career. From this passion her doctoral thesis was born- the first of its kind in Finland.
