Learn about linocut printing from Kentuck Gallery Shop artist Mo Fiorella!
This workshop will introduce linoleum carving and its many uses, such as creating patterns and illustrations. Linoleum is an easy to carve material used to deliver an image onto paper or fabric, that you can do at your own kitchen table. Participants will carve a design and create an edition of single color prints. Techniques for preparing an image, carving, and printing will be discussed. If time allows, experimentation is encouraged and more advanced techniques may be explored. Examples will be shared for inspiration, but please bring your own ideas.
Instructor Mo Fiorella is an artist living in Tuscaloosa. Her background in creative writing and farming lends itself to her work, from the materials used to content and inspiration. Her work--including artists' books, letterpress printed ephemera and stationary, and other fiber-related media--often utilizes objects found in nature, handmade paper, and inspiration found in textiles and folk art. Mo has studied at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, The Center for Book Arts, and The University of Alabama (BA, New College; MFA, Book Arts).
