Due to numerous requests, we are scheduling another Moccasin Making Workshop as part of our Primitive Skills Series. You will create your own pair of braintan deer moccasins to wear in your home, on hunting trips or camping trips. You will learn to create a pattern for custom-made moccasins using a one-piece style (choice of two designs), all hand sewn, and will come out of class with a completed pair or with some work to finish up at home. Feel free to bring one special bead or a combination of beads you’d like to use to decorate the top with a simple design. (If staying late or overnight). We have camping spaces available, let us know if you are needing one.
Students may want to bring a pair of small pliers, fabric scissors, and seed beads (optional) and lunch will be provided. These moccasins sell for upwards of $180-$200 pair.
Bill and Cathie have been making moccasins since the late 1980’s, returning to the craft after he retired from a career in the U.S. Army. Bill has taught classes and made moccasins in Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Washington and Oregon.
The benefits of making your own moccasins include: moccasins fit to your feet, utilizing natural materials and making the most of your hunting success.
