Due to repeated request, we are scheduling a second Bag Making Class as part of our Primitive Skills Gathering Series. You will create your own Haversack made of canvas and barktan deer hide. You will learn to create a pattern for a custom-made haversack used to carry/gather items while foraging (choice of two designs), all hand sewn, and will come out of class with a completed haversack or with some work to finish up at home.

Students may want to bring a pair of small pliers, fabric scissors, and wood, horn, or pewter buttons, if you wish (optional). Deer antler buttons will be supplied lunch will be provided. Historically accurate haversacks sell for upwards of $150.

The haversack dates back to before The French and Indian War and was used for various purposes which included: by men to carry items gathered while foraging, to carry food items and extras for soldiers and militia and by women for gathering herbs, fruits and vegetables.

Fees: Class Cost $ 55.00 (Tuition & Materials) we accept payment for class fees via PayPal or Credit Card via telephone.
